Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) refers to the laws and systems that are in place to prevent criminals from using lawful businesses such as real estate agencies to conceal or legitimise illegally obtained funds. Real estate agents now need to comply with AML and CTF obligations when providing their services. In practice this will mean that Walsh Estate Agents is required to complete Customer Due Diligence (CDD) to verify a customer’s identity. Information which we may request includes your full name and date of birth, identification documents such as a passport or driver licence and when a transaction involves a company or trust evidence of the controlling party. Should information requested for the purpose of CDD not be provided within a reasonable time we will be unable to provide services to you. To learn about how we manage your information please read our PRIVACY POLICY. To learn more about AML, CTF and CDD please visit AUSTRAC.
